Beautiful very old home in lovely surrounds. We were well looked after with an excellent breakfast in a gorgeous room, complete with chandelier, candelabra and fabric table napkins. The road into the house is narrow, just take it slowly.

We stayed three nights at this beautiful country house, just outside Jedburgh. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, very quiet and on beautiful grounds. Lovely walks around the property. The hosts were friendly and very helpful, with delicious breakfast—try the honey from their own bees. We had a lovely stay!

Sheila was a lovely hosts, as were Milo and Lexi the dogs. Gardens are lovely to explore and breakfast was great. House itself is impressive and room was spacious and comfortable. It's a very traditional B&B and can't complain for the price, although I think it is probably in need of a refresh.

What started as a pin in the map to break a long journey from the Black Isle to our home in Buxton, turned out to be the perfect stay over. From the moment we were welcomed into Hundalee House we were charmed by its character and beautiful setting. Our room was delightful, with all the necessities plus extra little touches adding to its charm and comfort. The 1.5 mile walk into Jedbrugh passes through stunning countryside with fantastic views. There is plenty to explore there or simply enjoy strolling through its historic centre. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys a peaceful rural setting, full of character and within easy reach of a delightful Scottish border town.

Run by the wonderfully friendly Sheila this was a very comfortable place to stopover at. Tucked out of the way in peaceful surroundings it was just a nice 30 minute(ish) walk from the centre of Jedburgh, which wasperfect to stretch my legs after a long drive and work up an apitite for a nice meal. Would recommend for a short peaceful stay.

Hundalee House is an old historical property set in beautiful grounds in a very quiet country setting about 5 mins drive from Jedburgh. We had a warm welcome from the hostess and shown to a pleasant double en suite room with modern facilities.Just remember the property is over two hundred years old so be mindful of possible quirks. Accommodation is B&B only.we were served breakfast in a beautiful dining room with a wood burning fire burning gently in the fireplace. A walk in the grounds at Easter time was slightly disappointing as we missed the first flush of spring, it will be a gorgeous setting to sit with a bottle or two in the evening sun in May time.Hundalee produce their own honey that my wife tells me is excellent, from hives that are presumably within their ground so 100% , no dilulantdfrom a clean environment.Highly recommend for a peaceful stay.Just one word of warning if you are approaching from the south on the A68 the turning into the lane is a savage 45 degree turn that can catch out the unwary driver

Milo and Lexi met us at the entrance, beautiful welcome. Felt so at ease immediately. Sheila was a lovely lady who met us and showed us our twin room. Met Peter(Sheila's husband) briefly. Felt at home immediately. Showed around the beautiful property. The gardens were amazing. Had no issues over the weekend stay. Met some really nice people. Rooms were of a decent size. Everything you needed. Only slight issue was on retiring to bed, had to get back out of bed to turn off the light and then walk back to bed in the dark. Overall had a really enjoyable stay here and would definitely stay again. Thank you Sheila for making us feel very comfortable.

What a beautiful house! On arriving at Hundalee House on our motorbike we were warmly greeted by one of two friendly little dogs and our hosts, then shown up to our room. We were not disappointed! Beautifully decorated in keeping with the style of house, spotlessly clean and the most comfortable bed we have slept in when away from home. The room was well equipped with everything you need (even down to flannels and dressing gowns!)We could not fault the breakfast, which was excellent with a good range of items to choose from and we loved watching the birds feeding from the feeders in the garden. The grounds are immaculate and if we had been staying longer, it would have been a lovely place to just sit and relax. We had no concerns over the security of our motorbike. All in all, we would definitely recommend this wonderful house and hope to be back again soon.Thank you.Wendy and Scottie

The rooms were comfortable, clean and you could hear the birds singing outside. There is a lot of history in this house. The property also has chickens and sheep right on site, you know your eggs are fresh for breakfast! Breakfast was delicious and it was nice that you could make your main selections the night before so nothing is wasted. Our hostess made a great suggestions for where to visit.

Didn't really know what to expect of this place - and the long drive up to the House only added to the intrigue, as you can't see it at all until you pop out from between the yew hedges right in front of it!it's a really beautiful old building, lovingly cared for and well looked after. Our room was huge and very comfortable - and scrupulously clean. Breakfast was taken in the very grand dining room and equally lovely and I did like the idea of all sitting at one table as it promoted conversations that wouldn't otherwise have happened. The hosts are lovely and friendly too, offering help and advise on the surrounding area. I'll definetly be recommending this place to friends and family.

host & dogs were very welcoming upon arrival in the picturesque setting.our 2 night stay was in the 4 poster room.dining room was well laid out in these covid times. breakfast was good with a range of cereals and juices, followed by a cooked breakfast.only negative f/back in the dining room would be the stuffed animals - i could see these causing an issue for some folk, but one has to remember that this is also a private home.only other minor niggle, was that the bed seemed to be small, i.e. 4'6" and when you're used to a kingsize, it is very noticeable.would we stay here again? yes.

The time spent at Hundalee House was a wonderful adventure. The owners - Sheila and Peter are wonderful, friendly people, thanks to which we felt at home. Great quality food (traditional Scottish breakfast), comfortable rooms, peace, and quiet surrounding the house were complimenting the wonderful time we spent there. Jedburgh - a small, beautiful Scottish town with lots of historical attractions: Jedburgh Abbey, Mary Queen of Scotland house, Castel Jail. We know we're going to be there again, and we can't wait to see Seila and Peter again.

We stayed at Hundalee House for just one night, en route to Inverness. The property is full of character set in beautiful grounds. Immaculately clean and our hosts Sheila and Pete gave us a warm welcome. Our room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - including dressing gowns - which was a nice touch! What can one say? It is the most friendly and well-appointed BandB I visit in Scotland! It does what it says on the tin. Comfy bed; well-equipped bathroom; excellent room facilities; breakfast to die for; and, the icing on the cake, brilliant hosts, for whom nothing is too much of a hassle (within bounds).I just love it. Actually don't want to put in a positive review, because then it will be more difficult for me to get a room in future!!Set in wonderful surroundings with lots of lovely walking around Jedburgh (great guidebook at Tourist Office, only £2 per copy)

Our trip to The Borders had taken us much longer than expected, so our time spent at The House was considerably less. On arrival Sheila met us with a friendly smile and showed us to our room. We had the Sm Dble on the Ground Floor. It was warm and comfortable with everything we needed for an overnight stay. We dumped our bags and shot out to visit The Events centre in Kelso (half an hour away). Later in the evening we came back, turned on the TV, made a welcoming cuppa n tucked up in bed for an hour before switching out the lights n spending a warm cosy night. Sadly my husband had an upset tummy the next morning so couldn't enjoy his cooked breakfast (pre-ordered the previous eve) but Peter n Sheila made no qualms about changing his order to Poached egg on toast. My breakfast was lovely. It was hot, tasty and beautifully cooked. Preceeded by a large choice of cereals, fruits, yoghurts etc. A delightful array of boozy (and non-boozy) preserves are available in small kilner jars served with plenty of toast and LARGE pots of tea or coffee. All served in a large breakfast room with a blazing fire x The house itself is set in the most beautiful gardens and on leaving in the morning I was greeted by a Peacock! All in all a lovely stop - warm, cosy, friendly and plenty of everything x Just what was needed on chilly Autumnal morning x

Hundalee is a wonderful B&B, the welcome is very warm and any needs we may have had would have been catered for. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable with a fantastic range of choices for breakfast. It is ideally located for exploring the magical Scottish Borders. We will be staying there again and strongly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

My friend and I greatly enjoyed our stay with you at Hundalee House. The setting and the building were beautiful, the accommodations were spacious and comfortable, breakfast excellent, and the reception warm and helpful. We particularly appreciate your going out of your way to be helpful to us at what is a very difficult time for you personally. We will certainly recommend Hundalee House to anyone we know who plans to visit the Borders region (and will also recommend it as a destination). Jedburgh as well as Hundalee House proved to be an excellent base for visiting the Borders areas. It felt off the beaten track, but we could walk into town, and by car could get easily to other towns and things to see in the vicinity.

An excellent B&B with friendly and helpful hosts. The breakfast was excellent, as was the room and the surrounding grounds. Not too far from the village but we would have maybe enjoyed to have the option of an evening meal at the property, rather than having to travel to Jedburgh for this. Despite this we had a lovely time there, and would be overjoyed to return in the future.

This was the best accommodation we have ever experienced. The house is beautiful, set in it's own grounds, lovely and warm, clean, full of character and rooms would have four star rating in a hotel. To top it all Sheila and Peter who run it are like visiting old friends. The house is also just down the road from Jedburgh which is full of interesting history and has great walks along the river Jed. Could not fault anything and would fully recommend to anyone. We hope Sheila was given the all clear on her hospital visit.

The land and views around the house were fabulous and the view from our room was amazing! I would have no hesitation In recommending this B and B to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Jedburgh which is also within easy reach of Edinburgh. We took the train from Galashiels to Edinburgh which is another option because of the parking in Edinburgh which can be very expensive!

A lovely place to stay. We had the 4-poster bedroom with private bathroom and found it to be very comfortable. Lovely hosts(the people and the dogs) and a good breakfast with home made preserves. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Friendly greeting from Sheila. The room was a small double but ideal for me and was soooo comfortable and quiet I had the best nights sleep in weeks.Ensuite was large and well fitted with everything you need.Breakfast choice was good - it was a pity I was called away before breakfast but was kindly offeted to go back later for it. I will certainly reccomend this hidden gem to friends and family visiting Jedburgh

What a wonderful find, Hunderlee house is a very impressive house and the grounds are lovely. We made a last minute booking, we arrived to a very warm welcome. We we’re lucky enough to have one of the rooms with a 4 poster bed which was very comfortable. The room was well equipped with a hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities along with robes. The breakfast was well presented and delicious, this is a bed and breakfast I look forward to staying in again.

Sheila is a wonderful host and Hundalee House is a warm, immaculately clean, traditional Scottish lodge. Breakfast is the best. Fruit, cereal, yoghurt, full breakfast, toast and tea/coffee - all great quality. Bedrooms are cosy with very comfy beds and are modern yet have traditional theme.

Our first anniversary was spent on this wonderfully tranquil setting listening to the owl hoot in the eve under a full moon with an inky black starry filled sky. Although the temperature dipped outside we were so cozy inside.Breakfast spent in a large dining room whilst watching the many garden birds feed from the many feeders in the garden as well as the window. Our four poster bed was so comfortable we didn’t want to get up. Both Lexi and Milo- owners dogs were so welcoming just like their owners.Would definitely visit again.

Excellent facilities and a very warm welcome by both Sheila and Peter. The bed room had the facilities you would expect and a lot more which was a very pleasant surprise. Very near to Jedburgh with a lot places to eat and a number of tourist attractions. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and along with the usual juices and fruits was very filling. Being just off the A68 just south of Jedburgh, Hundalee house, is an excellent stop if traveling north or stay for a few days and explore the boarders.

I stayed at Hundalee House for 1 night whilst travelling back to Yorkshire from Scotland. The house is a lovely historic building dating back to 1667 with many period features. The rooms were well decorated, clean and well prepared with lovely linen, towels and dressing gowns. There was tea/coffee biscuits etc. in the room. The owner (Sheila) was very welcoming and made a fantastic breakfast. Overall a very nice place to stay. If you need an evening meal and don't want to drive into town, a taxi will cost about five pounds each way. I will definitely visit again

Gorgeous place, warm welcome from Sheila, great breakfast. Lots of very well thought out small details, such as a shelf and lit mirror in the smallest bedroom so you're not struggling to do your makeup! En suites well appointed with good showers. Taxi into Jedburgh for dinner was less than a fiver. Half an hour from Tweedbank station for services direct to Edinburgh. The kids disappeared into the woods to explore within a few minutes of arriving and loved the surroundings.

Highly recommend this B&B. Sheila is a terrific host and nothing is too much trouble. The house is steeped in history and our room was beautiful. The gardens are well worth a visit, full of wildlife, there is even a resident Peacock. If you are visiting the Jedburgh area for any reason then this is definitely the place to stay.

We had stayed here before, and this time the room did not disappoint. However, breakfast was marred by the tea and coffee both being far too weak, and the sausage tasting mainly of bread, while the kipper was a processed fillet, not a "real" kipper.

We had a warm welcome from Sheila. Our room, number 1 overlooked the garden and we could see blossom on the apple trees and a beautiful rhododendron from the windows. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good sized en suite. Coffee, tea and water were provided. After a good night's sleep we enjoyed a tasty cooked breakfast in a beautiful dining room, watching birds at the feeders on the window. Altogether a lovely relaxing stay in this attractive Manor House. Near to historic Jedburgh.

Although our stay was only for one night we were made to feel as if we were part of the family, we had the freedom to wander round the grounds and enjoy the tranquility of the place. Our room was only the small one but we knew that when we booked but non the less it was quite adequate and the bed really comfortable. Finally, our hosts Peter and Sheila were more than welcoming and we left with an excellent breakfast in our bellies to see us on our way.

A stunning house on a working farm with a very warm welcome from Shiela ,Peter and Lexi (the dog). The room was beautiful with gorgeous views over the fields where there are over 600 sheep and a resident peacock. The beds are very comfortable and all the furnishings of a high standard. You feel like landed gentry from the moment you arrive until you leave, nothing is too much trouble and breakfast is amazing with a wide choice on the menu including honey from their own bee hives. The gardens are beautiful and tranquil, it is an oasis of serenity and not far from Jedburgh. I would highly recommend Hundalee House to anyone the facilities provided exceed all expectations and the price is more than value for money. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

This is a lovely old house, very surprised to find a peacock patrolling the grounds. I can imagine it would be lovely relaxing in the garden on a warm summer evening. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The only negative for our room, though minor, was the bathroom. Although for our sole use and the only room situated at that side of the property with a private staircase leading to it, it was necessary to leave the bedroom to cross a small landing to the bathroom but bathrobes were provided for the purpose.Very friendly owners and a very enjoyable breakfast.Sorry we were only able to stay one night.

A warm welcome from hosts Peter & Sheila, although Sheila is unable to climb stairs due to an operation.Do not recommend haggis or sausages as they had no taste and were from a cash & carry.Shower tray fills up quickly with water although this is probably due to the drainage system. Felt room could be cleaner it was very dusty.

A lovely B&B. Immaculately clean and well -presented/well-equipped bedroom and bathroom. Genuinely dog-friendly, and the grounds are beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We couldn't have picked better to break our journey with our dog up to the Highlands. Generous traditional breakfast and lovely, helpful hosts. Recommended to us and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend on to others.

Breakfast was first class & on the second day Sheila even cut the crusts off my toast as she had noticed I hadn't ate them the day before which was a lovely touch. Bed & pillows were so comfy. Hi Janice, thank you for your kind review, it was lovely to meet you and your family, hope you got everything sorted for your daughter. Would you mind doing a review on Booking.com for me stating that it would have been nice to know that we are only a B&B, I know that you knew but I am having a lot of nasty people being disappointed because we are not, I have asked them to change the wording for me but they refuse, also to make payment by cash or cheque only, people just do not read their booking forms, I am getting near to suicided over it all, any help will be appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all again soon.Take Care Sheila

Lovely owner. We had two rooms- both very nice and clean, every single detail worked out perfectly to make guest feeling like at home. All house has its own atmosphere. Delicious local breakfast. Area around very quiet and peaceful. Just remember to pay by cash- not specified that they take English notes only (not on Booking.com we used anyway). Apart from that everything is absolutely perfect.
Response
Hi, it was lovely to meet you and your family on Saturday evening. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, we try to do our best even if some people do not believe that. I do not know if Booking.com have been intouch with you to write a review but I would appreciate it if you made a point about the credit cards, I keep on to them they they will not make it clear to people and it is embarrassing for both me and the customer, we are not allowed to write our description they hold us to ransom over it which I feel is so unfair, they will not let me advertise as a B&B they want every one to think they are coming to a Hotel they think it is good for them but do not give a second thought about how I feel, as long as they get their commission they do not care how rude people are about me. Well that is my rant over, I hope your parents enjoy the rest of their holiday. I look forward to meeting you again if you are ever this way.Take Care Peter and Sheila

What a beautiful B&B to stay in. Situated at the top ofa country lane surrounded by wildlife and beautiful countryside and viewsand oh so quiet. You arrive at Hundalee House where a warm welcome awaits you from Sheila, Peter (her husband) and Lexy the dog. The house is wonderfully 'old' but 'new' and comfortable and nicely decorated. Sheila's breakfasts are excellent and nothing is 'too much trouble'. The bedroom and en suite were very comfortable and we loved the warm and welcoming residents lounge with the open fire. We so enjoyed our staythat we have warned Sheila that 'we will be back'.

Hundalee house is a warm, welcoming and fascinating location to stay. Our stay was for one night while enroute, the house has a fascinating history, and is adorned with many items of interest. Comfy four poster bed ensured a restful night sleep and price includes a very heart scottish breakfast deluvered in a grand dinng room. Within walking distance of Jedburgh, it is an ideal location for access to the lowlands and beyond. We would definetly recommend this guesthouse and the owner is extremely hospitable.

Found this excellent B&B online and had a superb three day break just after New Year. Tucked away on the hillside just out of town it proved to be an ideal spot for some rest relaxation and bit of sightseeing.Well looked after throughout our stay.

We had a lovely stay at Hundalee House. A warm, friendly greeting, and a very nice clean room. A very quiet location, so a great night's sleep. Breakfast was included in the very reasonable price, and was very enjoyable, my boyfriend particularly enjoyed his haggis! No negative comments at all about our stay, we had a thoroughly, wonderful stay. Thank you.

Great location in the countryside of Jedburgh. The ancient building (the house was build in 1667), the four poster bed and all the decorations in the room and in the corridors made our stay really great. The owner was really friendly and open. Good breakfast buffet.

We arrived in torrential rain, to a beatiful home and were greeted warmly by the owner. This farmhouse is a gem, packed with antiques, which is grand and beatiful. The breakfast dining room overlooks fabulous gardens and guests are encouraged to wander around the farmland. We felt the home was well located as a stop over for us on our longer journey to the highlands of Scotland, and would recommend this place to others.

The on line booking had not been forwarded to Hundalee House and the room we chad booked had already been let.Fortunately they were able to provide us with alternative accommodation which was very satisfactory.
